Embalse de Alcollarín
GPS: 39.269267456204, -5.7356324010989
An individual found on 20th April by Godfried Schreur et al. at Alcollarín Reservoir and identified as Yellow-billed Egret Ardea brachyrhyncha, an African species, until recently considered a subspecies of Intermediate Egret Ardea intermedia, which since the split occurs only in Asia. Although the features analyzed appear to point to the African species, given the similarity between them, a meticulous analysis will be required through photographs (proportion of bill, lores etc) in order to be accepted by the national rarities committee. It would be the first record of A. brachyrhyncha for Spain and only the 4th for the WP.
